            QUOTE FOR THE DAY
        (c) 1995 by Tom Hollander

    ********************************

Do you hate that "Tip of the Day" that appears when
you start Windows? Would you like something a little
more profound than learning that you can now use
long filenames for your documents? Welcome to
QUOTE FOR THE DAY!

Quote for the day will display a random quote from a
comprehensive (and user editable) list of quotes. The
quote list is actually "borrowed" from a very similar
DOS program called WISDOM by Ross and Ken McKay
(+61 (0)2 636 2727) - thanks guys - but if anyone thinks
they have a better (and royalty free) list of correctly
formatted quotes, please let me know.

This archive contains 16-bit and 32-bit versions of the
program. To install 16-bit QUOTE FOR THE DAY simply copy
Quotes.exe and Quotes.txt into a directory of your choice.
Create a Progman icon in your Startup Group and
it will come up every time you start Windows. You
need VBRUN300.DLL in your System Directory, available
from almost everywhere.

To install the 32-bit version, copy Quotes32.exe, Quotes.ini
and Quotes.txt into a directory of your choice, and make
a shortcut in your Start Menu\Startup folder. You will
need the VB4 runtime libraries in your System Folder,
available from http://www.inpros.com/Hollander/vb4run.zip
or file://ftp.apexsc.com/pub/cgvb/misc/vb4run32.exe
(amongst other places).

The 32-bit version (1.1) has an extra feature which will
automatically add today's quote to the end of your e-mail
signature, and change it every day.
Before you implement this feature, you should:
*	know which text file contains your e-mail signature,
	and
*	copy it to a file called "sigbase.txt" in the same
	directory.
To turn on Auto Signature Quotes, press the "Sig Setup...",
check the Enable... box and specify FULL path names for
the signature file and the copy you just made.

Remember to turn off Windows' Tip too!

To edit the quotes, simply edit the file Quotes.txt in
a text editor (but it's too big for Notepad). Add your
new quotes wherever you want them, but (* THIS IS
IMPORTANT! *) separate any new quotes with
<ENTER> <SPACE> <ENTER> and NOT just two enter keys.

This program is FREEWARE, if you like it please let
me know!
